Out and About

Pretty hard to spot amongst the fallen radishes

The partridges are doing extremely well in their game cover, and I’ve now trickled half of them out into the field of bolted radishes and turnips. They are extremely loyal to their pen, and can be found within a few feet of where I let them out every day. I spent an hour this afternoon watching them in the crop, and they are certainly foraging and feeding as much on the plants as they are on the grower’s pellets which are always on offer in a floorstanding feeder nearby.

It’s nice to hear their skreiking and purring as they go about their business, and while this first year of partridges is little more than an experiment, it is certainly whetting my appetite for more.
